But it wasn’t until Captain Mackay led an expedition into the Pioneer Valley that Europeans set foot on the landscape.
Today the Pioneer Valley hosts one of the largest stretches of rainforest in the beautiful Eungella National Park. At nearly 1300m altitude, this park is a nursery for ancient rainforest species and a stunning place to visit only an hour’s drive from Mackay.
